16-19 Bursary Fund

The 16-19 Bursary Fund is paid by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to schools and colleges so that they may provide financial assistance to young people who face the greatest barriers to continuing in education post 16.

A bursary is money that may be typically used to pay for things such as books, equipment, school meals, transport, and field trips.

The amount of funding available for each school to distribute has been determined by the government and there is a finite amount of funds to be distributed. The Excelsior Academy is therefore committed to distributing the bursary fund to those students with the greatest need.

Please note, the bursary is aimed at supporting students from households whose income is less than £27,000 per year.

If students are assessed to be eligible for bursary, payment will be made in 4 instalments during semesters 2-5.

Students who are eligible must apply online through the application form link below and provide the required documentation evidence to support the application by Friday 4th October 2024.
